MID-CITY HOUSE ADDITION & RENOVATION

Los Angeles, CA

Situated in Mid-City Los Angeles, this ranch-style residence required a comprehensive gut renovation and an integrated rear-yard addition to resolve a compartmentalized floor plan and establish a dialogue with the outdoors. The existing layout was entirely reorganized to deliberately separate private and public zones, introducing an intuitive circulation path that accommodates the layered programming of modern domesticity.

Drawing inspiration from the Southern California chaparral, the material palette grounds the interior in the textured character of the regional landscape. A continuous kitchen and dining volume opens directly to the rear yard while framing views of the Hollywood Hills, effectively threading the exterior context through the core of the home. Spatial proportions were rigorously calibrated throughout the intervention, yielding a primary suite and communal areas that feel generous and resolved without unnecessary excess.
